About Phoenix Ancient Art
An international company, Phoenix Ancient Art S.A. specializes in rare
and
high quality works of art from the Mediterranean region and Near East, with
an emphasis on the cultures of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Central
Europe, Byzantium, and Islam. Art works range in date from the 5th
millennium B.C. to the 14th century A.D., and they span the region between
the Iberian penisula and the Indus River valley.
The company's extensive holdings are available for viewing by
appointment
at the headquarters of Phoenix Ancient Art in the beautiful historic quarter of Geneva Switzerland, or
at Electrum, their
exclusive U.S. agent, in Manhattan's posh Upper East Side neighborhood.
The business was founded in 1972 by the late Sleiman Aboutaam.
Originally
based in Beirut, Lebanon, he conducted a licensed trade in antiquities from
1972-1987. In 1988, Mr. Aboutaam established Phoenix Ancient Art in
Switzerland and also expanded his business to the United States. Since
then, the company has become a leader in the international antiquities
trade, conducting business world-wide.

Phoenix Ancient Art S.A. is now managed by Mr. Aboutaam's two sons, Ali
and
Hicham Aboutaam. Having inherited their father's passion for buying and
selling great works of art, the brothers divide their time between Geneva
and New York, and travel extensively to promote sales and pursue new
acquisitions. |
